The Carnegie Library opened on September 1, 1906. It was built next to the Delaware County Courthouse at 101 N. Sandusky Street at a cost of $21,500. In the year 1902, C.T. Jones, V.T. Hills, Dr. W.M. Semans and Dr. J.W. Bashford headed up the effort to get a Carnegie library built in Delaware. They petitioned Andrew Carnegie for the money to construct the building. The city purchased the land and paid for the furnishings. |
