According to the minutes of the Ohio Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church of 1845, the OWU Board of Trustees requested an opinion on the appointment of Dr. Edward Thomson as president of the University. The Conference resolved that they "heartily concur in opinion relative to the qualifications of Dr. Edward Thomson for the presidency of the Ohio Wesleyan University and should he accept said appointment, we could not but rejoice in such an event." |
